All are invited to take part in this Conference on Defence Associations Institute Metro Expert Series Webinar:
Date: October 3rd, 2022
Time: 13:30 Eastern

Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine has ignited a conflict with tragic and pervasive consequences. Amongst the countless casualties — nuclear non-proliferation efforts. As the war continues to wage, concerns of significant challenges for the global non-proliferation regime are growing. The Ukrainian experience is demonstrating that a nuclear deterrent may be necessary in this new era of great power competition. Non-nuclear powers in the Indo-Pacific have already signaled that they are reconsidering their nuclear ambitions.
This upcoming Metro Expert Series Webinar will provide expert views on the war in Ukraine’s impact on the international nonproliferation regime, and implications for future arms control initiatives and negotiations, specifically amongst NATO allies in the Indo-Pacific. Also up for discussion are the outcomes of the Tenth Review Conference (RevCon) of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
Up for discussion:
Status of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and outcomes of the NPT RevCon
Implications of the War in Ukraine for Proliferation in Asia and the Middle East
Consequences of new or expanded nuclear sharing arrangements (e.g., NATO, ROK, Belarus)
Status on the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (e.g., should Canada sign?)
How Can the International Community Preserve Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation?
What Is the Future for US-Russian Arms Control (and how to engage China)?
