Recipient of the 2024 Distinguished Achievement Award from Canadians for a Nuclear Weapons Convention: Ernie Regehr
Ernie Regehr will deliver a keynote lecture exploring Canada’s role in Arctic security, considering the implications of Russia’s nuclear presence and China’s ambitions. He will also examine the growing role of nuclear weapons in world politics, focusing on present military conflicts and modernization trends.
Mr. Regehr will receive his Distinguished Achievement Award from CNWC Chairperson Alex Neve, a Senior Fellow with the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs.
Lecture at 4pm followed by a reception.

Speaker: Ernie Regehr, O.C. is a widely respected expert in the area of nuclear disarmament, nationally and internationally. He was the Co-Founder and, for thirty years, Executive Director of Project Ploughshares, a Canadian based peace research institute with a focus on disarmament efforts and international security. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada.
Award presentation by: Alex Neve, O.C. is the Chairperson of Canadians for a Nuclear Weapons Convention, as well as a Senior Fellow at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa.
